This month’s topic is Space adventures.

Space, stars, planets, the moon and beyond!

This exciting topic offers endless activities and learning. Your child will participate in activities to enhance their understanding of the world as well as engaging in imaginative play with their peers.

The new vocabulary introduced throughout this topic will help develop your child’s communication and language skills which can then be strengthened at home using our suggested activities and reading materials.

Did you know……… Space Day was instituted in 1997 and is celebrated the first day of

May.

On July 1969, Commander Neil Armstrong became the first man on the moon. Apollo 11 blasted off on July 16, 1969. Neil Armstrong, Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin and Michael Collins were the astronauts on Apollo 11. Four days later, Armstrong and Aldrin landed on the moon. They landed on the moon in the Lunar Module.

These astronaut templates are available online, your child can practice their fine motor skills and pencil control as they colour the figure. You can then add a photo of their face so they become the astronaut

Using tin foil and glitter you can support your childs creativity through making a simple wall decoration.

What’s been happening…..

Our extensive outside areas have all been re-surfaced with cushioned under flooring and soft artificial grass. As the weather begins to cool down the children will be able to enjoy extended periods outside having fun whilst developing their gross motor skills, special awareness, mathematical concepts and much more.

Our classrooms have also had beautiful new cushioned flooring, fresh coat of paint and attractive interactive display boards put up

The bright and stimulating rooms help to engage the children’s interest and promotes a positive learning environment.

International Day.

On Thursday 27th September we celebrated International Day in the nursery. We have a diverse mix of nationalities within the nursery and each nationality was represented by the children wearing traditional clothes of their home country. The children performed a song in which they sang hello in many different languages.

The children worked with their staff to produce some amazing 3D models of famous land marks using 100% recycled materials.

Parents were invited to prepare a traditional dish from their country to share at our International lunch.

We had delicious dishes from India, Australia, UK and Syria, to name just a few.
