September 2018.

Dear Parents.

Welcome back, we hope you all had an enjoyable summer and are ready for another exciting year at Monroe’s.

We will be starting the year with the topic “All about Me”. Our staff have been busy planning new and exciting activities for the children. These activities will help the children get to know the special and unique things about themselves and each other.

The goal behind our “All About Me” topic is to help children learn about each other and each other’s families. They will also learn that every child's thoughts and ideas are important and no one person is more or less important than another.

The topic will be split into sub

topics:

Me and my family

When I grow up.

Where I come from

Suggested Activities for Home!

Using bits and pieces from around the home children can make these faces. Talk about differences such as eye/hair colour, height, gender etc.

Using dry pasta and beans to create faces showing different emotions is a fun way to engage your child in conversation about feelings, what they like/dislike, what makes them feel happy/sad etc.

Dates to remember…….

Term starts – Sunday 9th September.

Nursery closed – Thursday 13th September (public holiday) International Day – 27th September 2018.

What’s been happening…..

Trip to Just Play Sports Centre.

As part of our ‘Keeping Healthy’ topic, we arranged for the children to take part in an exciting trip to Just Play sports HQ, located off Sheikh Zayed road. The children participated in a tailored, age appropriate program of sporting activities to support and develop motor skills, balance, coordination and mobility

Along with learning personal, social and emotional skills – physical activity can help develop skills, such as self-esteem, developing resilience, confidence and problem solving skills.

Summer camp……

What a fun packed summer camp we had, the children enjoyed a wide range of activities based on weekly themes for the whole 10 weeks of camp. Here is a little taste of the fun we had….

We started the camp with our sports theme. The children were very busy participating in various sports activities.

Then it was time to explore the depths of the sea with our “Under the sea” themed week.

Making wiggly wobbly Jellyfish.

Making a Sea scene with our feet.

And of course you can’t have under the sea without our little mermaids…..

All aboard for Pirate week.

The children really enjoyed the role play with the big Pirate ship, they searched the nursery high and low to find the gold coins.

The Pirate lotto game really had them thinking and kept them actively engaged for quite a while. For our younger pirates Ms. Diane played a pirate matching game, which they all enjoyed.

Dinosaur week saw the children stomping and roaring as they played at being dinosaurs.

Messy play was very popular as the children rescued the dinosaurs from within the glitter and ice.

The children got very creative making their own dinosaurs before heading out on a dinosaur egg hunt.
