Monroes Nursery welcomes applications from children of all nationalities. Priority is given to children who have a sibling. We encourage prospective parent’s children to tour the Nursery (for which an appointment must be made). Parents seeking admission for their child are encouraged to apply early online due to space constraints.
The Academic Year at Monroes Nursery is divided into three terms.
Our Classes | |||
1st Autumn Term : | September to December
2nd Winter Term : | January to March
3rd Spring Term : | April to June |
We are open Monday to Friday. Children may attend for 2, 3 or 5 days per week. Monroes Nursery recognises that each child is an individual and will settle into a new routine or situation at their own pace. We ensure that children and parents receive a smooth transition into the Nursery. We stagger the starting times for our new children and our staff is always available to advise and work with parents to ensure a successful outcome. Informal Introduction
The informal introduction morning is held to support both parents and children one day before the first day of the term. Parents and children are invited into their new class for approximately one hour to meet the Teachers and Teaching Assistants and familiarise themselves with the classroom. This informal introduction provides parents with the opportunities to ask any questions or voice any concerns they may have.
The second day follows a staggered timing schedule that is in place for the first two weeks of the start of the Nursery. Foundation children resume normal hours unless the child becomes unsettled. The parents complete the staggered timing schedule form that is placed on the class notice board outside the child's classroom. Once orientation begins, we encourage parents to stay a short while (a maximum of 10 minutes) in our younger Nursery classes. If parting becomes difficult after the first week, the staff uses their personal judgment and intervenes when necessary. Notes on separation anxiety are given to all parents when a child joins.
