Police visit.

Dubai Police K9 unit came to visit the nursery. The police officer explained to the children what the dogs are trained to do and how they use their noses to sniff and find a wide range of things.

The dogs then put on a show for the children, firstly displaying how obedient they are.

Next the officer explained to the children how the dogs was going to use it’s sense of smell to find hidden objects. Once detected the dog sat down to indicate the find.

Then it was time for the children to participate. The children sat holding a numbered paddle and the dog was shown a number and ran and sat next to the matching number.

To show the children how agile the dogs are they police officer released a balloon and the dog leapt high into the air and caught it. The dogs really enjoyed chasing after the ball and returning it to their handler. The children were also invited to have a go at throwing the ball for the dog to retrieve.

Once the display was over the children were allowed to pet the dogs and then have some photographs taken with the police and K9 officers.

The children were taken to see the special police vans and have a look at the cages the dogs are transported in.
